Impacted Wisdom Tooth

What does it mean when a tooth is impacted?

A tooth will become impacted when it is erupting, or growing in, and it doesn’t have enough space. It will push against the other teeth around it as it rises and cause major damage. This also causes a great deal of pain.

Why do wisdom teeth erupt?

It is said that the third set of molars were necessary for our ancestors who, due to the excessive wear on their teeth, would require another set as time went on. We don’t really need this third set anymore with the advances we have made in dental care and hygiene. So, now we have to have them removed. If you think you’re ready to have your wisdom teeth removed then give us a call and set up an appointment at our Upper Marlboro location.
